A potential supplier is one which can insure a good technical fit for your business and long term sound organization. Finding one who meets your all objectives is not hard but it does take some work and investigation. A successful long term relationship needs to be built rather than focus only on the lowest quote. 1. Think about your objectives Is time to market a critical driver of success ? Are you replacing an existing product ? Does your new product require many new toolings ? Start with a list of objectives for searching your injection molding supplier. 2. Think about your ideal supplier What are your expectations ? Do they work with professional engineering team for manufacturing? Do they work on low volume production ? Do you want your supplier to have in house tooling ? There are many elements in your assessment before you send out your first RFQ. 3. Think about your project requirements Set realistic production targets. You will have better quality, faster product launch and a lower cost investment. A product comes off exactly as you expected from the beginning. 4. Think about your quality requirement Are you happy with the first article inspection report and sample fit and function evaluation ? Be sure your supplier understands exactly what your expectations are for a QC documentation. 5. Think about supplier company culture that fits you and yours Understand the mutual goals of the project including time lines, production schedules, personnel involved and so on. 6. Don't buy just on price |
